Venezuela - Los Llanos

The wildlife of Los Llanos in Venezuela

Photos and tales of Los Llanos Venezuela

Tours of Los Llanos include a whole slate of activities. Ours included an afternoon of horseback riding in search of anteaters. Another activity was a riverboat ride in search of capybara, pink dolphins, monkeys, caiman and other wildlife. We also spent some time fishing for piranha during our boatride. Another activity included wading in swamps looking for anaconda. Of course, not everyone wanted to do this. But I did.

Birdwatching is also a favorite activity in Los Llanos. This area is one supposedly reknowned as one of the premier birdwatching locations in the world. Once here, it's easy to see why. I'm not an avid birdwatcher, but within an hour I'd seen dozens of different species without any effort.

I hope you enjoy my photos of Venezuelan wildlife.

Here's another view of the tree anteater. It was almost as if it was posing for photos.

The piranha is actually a colorful fish. But they do look nasty with those large teeth!
